Roberto is known as a Clinical Psychologist, specializing in the treatment of ADHD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD). He is also known as an internationally recognized expert in eating disorders and body image problems in boys and men.

He is going to share with you what are the signs of depression, the related ADHD-specific risk factors, and what are the available treatments or therapies for treating depression.

Thirty percent of individuals with ADHD have had a depressive episode, and if you have ADHD, your risk of developing depression is four times greater than it is for those without the disorder.

Dr. Olivardia’s presentation will explore what struggles and the risk factors that young people with ADHD have that can lead to depression, what are the signs and symptoms so that parents or caregivers can recognize early and act on it.

We will discuss treatment interventions for ADHD and Depression and also practice some of the evidence-based depression management strategies. By the end of it, you will have the resources and tools needed to address the risk factors of depression for your middle-school-aged child.

Dr. Roberto Olivardia is a Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

He maintains a private practice specializing in body image problems in boys and men. He has appeared in publications such as TIME, GQ, and Rolling Stone, and has been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, and VH1. He has spoken on numerous webinars and presents at many talks and conferences around the country.  

He currently serves on the Professional Advisory Boards for CHADD, ADDA, and the National Association for Males with Eating Disorders. He is also on the Scientific Advisory Board for ADDitude, as well as a Featured Expert on Understood.org. He is a member of Decoding Dyslexia-Massachusetts, The International Dyslexia Association, and The American Association of Suicidology.
